The city of Tornio has launched a new browser-based video portal, Tornio Channel, which offers even better capabilities for live broadcasts, video recordings, and educational materials. The solution was implemented in collaboration with Icareus and will be used for both internal and external communications.
Tornio is the first to get access to Icareus’ new SaaS-based portal. Customers can easily configure their portal to match their brand image and other needs, ensuring visual consistency and user-friendliness.
Through the portal, the city of Tornio can broadcast live events such as city council meetings, resident evenings, public lectures, and cultural events. The video library is constantly expanding with the new live events, as the recordings remain available for viewing later. In addition, the channel features important video recordings previously produced by the city, such as brand videos and resident stories, as well as content from local cultural venues.
Tornio will also reap the following benefits from its new video service:
- Multilingualism and multi-page support: The portal can have multiple pages, which the city can add and edit according to its needs for different target groups.
- Recording, editing, and subtitling tools: Content producers can easily create, edit, and subtitle videos with the service’s comprehensive tools.
- Captioning features: Icareus’ tools enable automatic, manual, and translated captioning, which improves the accessibility of videos for different language and cultural groups.
- Event and recording analytics: The service’s analytics features provide information about video and live stream viewing, helping Tornio understand audience needs and better tailor content.
- Flexible publishing platform: The city can share the portal’s content on its own websites and third-party environments, without advertisements.
With the new Tornio Channel, the city is strengthening its position as a modern operator that provides its residents and visitors with easily accessible and up-to-date information. The service will continue to be developed in line with the city’s needs.
